New Virus Hypnotizing Its Victims With Malware

Clearly this has been a month for security threats. Just learned a short time ago today that the latest threat to Windows users has been dubbed W32.Hypnotoad.2000. The payload for this nasty bit of malware remains a mystery, however the know affect of the virus has been fairly clear early on. Here is what we know.

1. W32.Hypnotoad.2000 is generally found through phishing schemes and email forwards.
2. Microsoft has no patch for it yet.
3. Apple and Linux machines remain unaffected and unwilling to feel any sympathy for Windows users.
4. Apple’s CEO/Grand Poompa Steve Jobs was quoted as saying; “Just get a Mac, you’ll be fine.”

Security experts are still working to sift through what all of this is about, but it looks like we will be seeing a lot of more of the Hypnotoad as the days turn into weeks.
