Like some of you, I will be hosting a Windows 7 House Party, and just this morning (very early this morning) received a notice that my ‘party materials are on their way.’ Woo hoo! I am excited about the party, as it will be a good way for me to gauge how many of the people I might have as customers will be moving to Windows 7 very quickly. As I was looking around, I saw something I must have missed yesterday. There is an article on Ars Technica, that details a person who wrote to Steve Ballmer personally, about the Windows 7 House Party Program. Ain’t Nothin’ But A Houseparty! Just short of three weeks later, the Ars reader got what he was promised. That’s right, he’s the first one to get the free swag (we haven’t seen reports of anyone else receiving their pack yet); Windows 7 Party Packs are to be delivered to all chosen hosts by October 10, 2009. E-mails aren’t enough to prove that you got something for free though. We told him “pics or it didn’t happen” and he pointed us to his blog. Since we haven’t gotten our own Windows 7 Party Pack yet, we can’t compare for authenticity’s sake, but we doubt our reader faked these: The story is interesting, both in content, and in the fact that Mr. Ballmer would actually do something like this (we all know it is a golden moment for publicity, but still, many times, things like this would be put aside, never to be heard about by anyone) He must really want Windows 7 to succeed (like his job depends on it)! More than the story, there are a few pictures showing the copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, signed by the CEO, and other party materials.
